New Cell Phone Policy Coming Spring 2025

The LAUSD School Board voted in the fall to make our schools cell phone-free after research has shown that students are negatively impacted by their cell phone use.  Research shows that smart phones have led to higher rates of depression, loneliness, and physical consequences such as eye strain, and neck and back pain.

Students will be given a Yondr pouch in February and will be expected to put their phone in the pouch and not have access to their phone the entire day. The pouch is closed with a strong magnet and cannot be open. In case of emergencies, students will be allowed to access their phone. Teachers and administrators will have demagnetizers to open the pouches.

If a student needs to call their parents they can use the phone in the Main Office. If a parent needs to speak with a student, they can call the Main Office.
